Women's Safety & Self Defense Workshops at GS Krav Maga Tustin in Orange County

June 16, 2017

A self-defense situation is a violent encounter of unknown duration.

Is there anything that I can do to prevent an attack? How can I possibly defend myself if I am attacked by someone who is bigger and stronger than me?

At Get Safe Krav Maga we educate and empower people of all ages about safety awareness and train people to defend themselves by utilizing the Krav Maga self-defense system.

The Krav Maga self-defense system prepares individuals to perform regardless of the stress and sudden shock of a violent encounter.

We recommend that everyone pursues self-defense training beyond education. Safety tactics will help you prevent an attack, but it is self-defense training that will prepare you to survive one.

At GS Krav Maga you will learn:

  • How to 'flip the switch' and fight to defend yourself in the moment when it matters most

  • How to respond asymmetrically to the threat and defend yourself by any means necessary

  • How to strike vulnerable areas so that you can fight off a larger attacker and get to safety as quickly as possible

  • How to de-escalate a confrontational situation

The 5 Benefits of Training at GS Krav Maga:

  1. Get fit.

  2. Have fun.

  3. Relieve stress.

  4. Gain self-confidence.

  5. Develop awareness.

In every Women's Safety & Self-Defense Workshop, the most common concern that is brought to our attention from the powerful women in attendance is being suddenly attacked by an unforeseen threat. Even with great situational and environmental awareness this possibility remains very real as we cannot see everything at all times. However, our awareness does much more to keep us safe than we realize.

When our awareness is compromised, is it more likely or less likely that we will be attacked? Below are common scenarios in which we compromise our awareness:

  • When you are out in a public area and you are fixated on your phone.

  • When you wear headphones in both ears and you go out for a late night jog and cannot hear what is going on around you.

  • When you are hiking and you keep your head down and eyes on the terrain without scanning what is around you or who might be following you.

Being aware of your surroundings is the key to navigating a safer lifestyle and when we stop paying attention we risk becoming a target.

GS Krav Maga uses the following acronym to helps us remember how to be S.A.F.E.:

S - Scan: To look around.

A - Assess: To judge.

F - Forecast: To make a prediction.

E - Execute: To execute a safe plan.

If you are walking your dogs at a park late at night, choose a path that is visible and well lit. Walk around confidently with your shoulders back and your chest proud. Always look around and pay attention to what is going on around you. Scan the area, Assess that the unlit path behind the building may not be safe, Forecast that it is possible that someone is loitering behind the building and could put you in a danger, and Execute a safe plan by choosing a different route.

When we do all of these things we will be SAFE.

Our mission at Get Safe Krav Maga is to build a safer community in Orange County and empower people from all walks of life to achieve 'freedom from fear'.
